2.2.6 Labelling A dishwasher shall be labelled with the approved water efficiency-rating label in accordance with Annex B.
2.3 Clothes washing machines
2.3.1 General This Standard applies to clothes washing machines as specified in AS/NZS 2040.2.
2.3.2 Registration A clothes washing machine shall be registered in accordance with Section 4.
2.3.3 Performance A clothes washing machine shall comply with the performance requirements specified in Section 4 of AS/NZS 2040.2, when tested under the same conditions used to determine the energy consumption of the appliance. NOTE AS/NZS 2040.2:2005 requires compliance with minimum rinse performance requirements.
2.3.4 Water consumption The water consumption of a clothes washing machine shall be taken to be the higher of—
a) the claimed total water consumption of the warm-wash or
b) the claimed total water consumption of the cold-wash , when each is determined under the conditions used for the energy consumption tests as specified in AS/NZS 2040.2. Where the water consumption of a washing machine is the same on the cold wash as the warm wash cycle, the determination of water consumption on the cold wash is not required if a manufacturer or supplier declaration to that effect is provided. Even if a supplier elects not to include a cold-wash energy consumption value on the energy label, both the claimed total water consumption of the warm-wash and claimed total water consumption of the cold-wash shall be reported, so that the use of the higher water consumption value can be confirmed. If a washing machine does not have a dedicated cold wash program, then the water consumption is the claimed total water consumption of the warm-wash.
NOTE 1 It is possible that the warm-wash and cold-wash values will be identical.
NOTE 2 The claimed total water consumption of the warm-wash and claimed total water consumption of the cold-wash are reported in the Application For Registration of An Electrical Clothes Washing Machine For Energy Efficiency Rating And Water Efficiency Rating in AS/NZS 2040.2. NOTE 3 For verification purposes the water consumption on the warm-wash cycle and cold-wash cycle (if a dedicated cold wash program is provided) is to be determined by appropriate tests and not by accepting the information on the declaration.
2.3.5 Rating The water efficiency rating of a clothes washing machine is determined using the following formula for the water consumption determined under Subclause 2.3.4:
NOTE 1 Annex E provides a graphical representation of the algorithm for clothes washers and also provides an informative table as to the star ratings for given water consumptions.
NOTE 2 Water consumption is rounded and recorded to 5 significant figures under AS 2040.2. This value is rounded to the nearest 0.1 L for determining the star rating using Annex E.
If a clothes washing machine achieves less than 1 on the star-rating index, the rating of the clothes washing machine is zero stars.
2.3.6 Labelling
A clothes washing machine shall be labelled with the approved water efficiency-rating label in accordance with Annex B.
2.4 Lavatory equipment
2.4.1 General
This Standard applies to lavatory equipment as listed in AS 1 1 72.1 , AS 1 1 72.2,ATS 5200.020, ATS 5200.021 and ATS 5200.030. In this Standard, ‘lavatory equipment’ means—
a) a toilet suite; or
b) a WC pan; or
c) a WC cistern; or
d) a WC flushing device; or.
e) a combination (nominated by the applicant for registration) of—
1 a WC pan and cistern; or
2 a WC pan and flushing device.
2.4.2 Registration
Lavatory equipment shall be registered in accordance with Section 4.
If a WC pan, WC cistern, or flushing device is supplied separately, its registration and rating shall be based on the performance of a combination of a WC pan and WC cistern,or a WC pan and flushing device, nominated by the applicant for registration, although the combination need not be one that is supplied as a set.
2.4.3 Performance
Lavatory equipment shall comply with the following listed performance requirements:
a) AS 11 72.1 :
1 Full-flush—paper discharge test
2 Reduced-flush—paper discharge test
3 Solids discharge test
4 Leakage and capacity test
5 Splash test
6 Wetting test
7 Reduced-flushed liquid containment test
b) AS 11 72.2:
1 Distortion and leakage tests
